While it's already been revealed that several of the accused were paid over R130,000 by accused 4 Mziwethemba Gwabeni, Mkhwanazi said that as part of their efforts, police are following the money trail and giving special attention to the account used to disburse funds.
"That person had paid the entire group after the job, but he used his bank account to transfer money and that is a business account that he used. But we are investigating further the linkages of his business account with other partners that he has who transferred money into that business account."
He outlined their methods: "So we are identifying all those that he has business interest with that will have used the money into that account and we are busy looking at those to establish exactly who above him might have requested him, perhaps, to coordinate these operations."
