The attempted murder case against popular lekompo star, Lehlogonolo Chauke, known as Shebeshxt, has been postponed to allow the State to build a stronger, consolidated case against him.

The 30-year-old appeared briefly in the Polokwane Magistrates Court on Thursday, facing three charges – attempted murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm and malicious damage to property.

Police said the arrest followed an intelligence-driven operation in the upmarket Bendor suburb on Wednesday, during which several of his vehicles were seized for forensic analysis.

The court heard that the State wanted more time to align this matter with other cases against Chauke, a move the prosecution said would see the cases upgraded from schedule 5 to schedule 6, making it significantly harder for him to obtain bail.

Chauke walked into court confidently, smiling and waving to supporters packed into the public gallery.

His girlfriend was also in attendance.

Chauke was arrested in 2023 on violence-related charges and has been the subject of several controversial incidents that have gone viral online.

He was also involved in a fatal car crash in 2024 that claimed the life of his nine-year-old daughter.

Judge Godfrey Netshiozwi said, “This matter has to be postponed to a further date to finalise the profiling of yourself, further investigations, and, if possible, a possible bail application.”

The court agreed to the postponement. The matter will return next Friday, with Chauke remaining behind bars.
