POLOKWANE - Lawyers representing lekompo musician, Lehlogonolo Chauke, say the State’s case is weak, inconsistent, and based on public image rather than fact.
The 30-year-old is accused of attempted murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm, and malicious damage to property.
His legal team insists it has evidence that directly contradicts the State’s version of events.
Attorneys for Shebeshxt said the State was relying on his celebrity status to turn public sentiment against him.
They argued that his past behaviour on social media, including viral videos and online comments, had no bearing on the case and could not be entered as evidence in court.
They further claimed that their client would be cleared once all the facts emerged.
"But on our side we are ready, as things stand. Like we said in court, we wanted the matter to proceed tomorrow but we must allow to do their work, we’re not going to limit anyone from doing their work."
The matter has been postponed to next Friday, as the State prepares to merge its cases and finalise the charge sheet.
