Listen to the interview in the audio player below.
We Need New Leaders is an essential guide for the next generation of leaders who are ready to make the leap into a leadership position in the business world.
The book offers practical support to CEO's and other senior leaders to help navigate their way through their journey.
The book unpacks the importance of reputation and why it matters how a CEO or any other behaves in the a public or private setting, and how to communicate during both easy and difficult times.
The book is written by Charlotte Otter, an author, speaker and advisor who advises a wide range of clients on reputation, change communications and building effective communications teams.
In a world overrun by technology, artificial intelligence and social media, Otter says the behaviour of senior leaders will not only destroy their careers, but also do significant damage to the company's reputation.
"It's so much more public to have a leadership role now. We can't avoid the role of social media. The divide between the internal and external has completely fallen away," says Otter.
She says 20 years ago, leaders could have tow completely different personas, one inside the corporation, and another outside and get away with it. Otter says these days, a leader and the company's reputation is always on the line.
"Whereas now, you turn up at a Coldplay concert and you're on the Kiss cam and you've lost your job the next day," adds Otter.
