Cape Town Fire and Rescue's Jermaine Carelse said the Table Mountain National Park's helicopter on Monday assisted with aerial firefighting.

A fire off Slangkop Road in Ocean View continues to burn.

Authorities were alerted to vegetation alight shortly after 3AM.

Cape Town Fire and Rescue's Jermaine Carelse said the Table Mountain National Park's helicopter on Monday assisted with aerial firefighting.

"The fire is currently contained to the higher mountain slopes, making it inaccessible to ground crews who are monitoring the situation very closely. City crews on scene are from Kommetjie, Fish Hoek and Simon's Town fire stations and theyare joined by crews from Table Mountain National Park, NCC and Volunteer Wildfrie Services."
