Man and child wounded in Athlone shooting

Yet another child has been shot and wounded after being caught in crossfire in Athlone.
 
The shooting happened after 5pm on Wednesday afternoon, in Canal Road, Vygieskraal.
 
A man also survived being shot.
 
The police's Wesley Twigg said that the motive for the shooting isn't known.
 
"An adult male and a nine-year-old boy were shot and wounded. According to reports, the victim was walking in the road when an unknown suspect opened fire on him. Further investigation revealed that the nine-year-old boy was caught in the crossfire and sustained gunshot wounds to his body. The suspect fled the scene and is yet to be arrested."
 
This shooting comes as we mark World Children's Day on Thursday.
