National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) boss, Shamila Batohi, has been pressed by the panel hearing the inquiry into Johannesburg prosecutions head, Andrew Chauke, to back her allegations against him.
Batohi was back on the witness stand in Pretoria on Monday.
The inquiry is investigating allegations by Batohi that Chauke made politically motivated prosecutorial decisions.
President Cyril Ramaphosa suspended Chauke in July and then established the inquiry.
From last week, the chair of the inquiry into Chauke’s fitness to hold office, retired Justice Bess Nkabinde, asked that the inquiry be mindful of its terms of reference and stick to them.
On Monday, while Batohi has been testifying, Nkabinde was vocal, asking that the evidence Batohi gives speak to the terms of reference and the allegations that she has made against Chauke.
According to Batohi, Chauke undermined or attempted to undermine the authority of then acting-DPP of KwaZulu-Natal, Advocate Cyril Mlotshwa, when he led a team of prosecutors that was investigating former KZN Hawks boss Johan Booysen and his Cato Manor organised crime unit.
She has spent the morning reading email communication between Chauke and Mlotshwa and pointing out signs of alleged poor conduct from Chauke.
