New Hanover floods: Residents warned to brace for more heavy downpours

Residents of New Hanover in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) have been warned to brace for more heavy downpours following devastating floods in the area.
The South African Weather Services (SAWS) has warned that inclement weather is set to persist until Friday.
Hundreds of people have been left destitute after their homes were destroyed.

Whiledisaster management teams continue to comb through the Njasuthi River, hoping to find the bodies of the two people who went missing during the massive flooding on Sunday, residents are warned of more rainfall.
Authorities said more rain is expected in the coming days, urging residents to stay vigilant.
KZN's spokesperson for Transport and Human Settlements, Ndabezinhle Sibiya, said their teams are on standby to respond in case of disasters.
“We are responding to the latest warning from the SA Weather Services. We are appealing to communities to be on full alert. Our roving team from Human Settlements is working with a team that has been deployed to the province by the national minister, Thembi Simelane.”
Sibiya said a number of officers from the Road Traffic Inspectorate (RTI) have been activated to watch the roads in parts of the province.
