The National Freedom Party (NFP) has directed KwaZulu-Natal’s Social Development MEC Mbali Shinga to support the pending motion of no confidence against Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli.
The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party has notified the legislature that it will table a motion against Ntuli at the next sitting, citing financial mismanagement under his leadership.
The NFP said it's in full support of the bid, echoing the MK’s sentiment.
The NFP, which is also the kingmaker of the coalition-led provincial government, has written to its KZN provincial executive committee to support the motion to remove Ntuli as premier.
In a letter seen by EWN, the party says it's resolved that its only member in the legislature, Mbali Shinga, must vote in favour of the motion.
The party said that while it was part of the provincial government with the IFP, ANC, and the DA, it no longer had confidence in Ntuli.
At the same time, Speaker Nontembeko Boyce is expected to announce whether the motion will go ahead as desired by the MK Party.
