The Hawks in Limpopo have arrested four senior officials at the Molemole Municipality on charges of fraud and corruption.

The suspects, aged between 35 and 60, were handcuffed following an investigation into alleged irregularities in procurement processes.

They are accused of bypassing tender procedures in violation of the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA).

Limpopo Hawks spokesperson Avela Fumba said the group will appear in the Senwabarwana Magistrates Court on Friday.

"Preliminary investigations indicate that the alleged misconduct may have resulted in financial prejudice to the municipality. The exact value is still subject to verification as investigations continue. The case emanates from incidents reported in September 2024 and has since been under thorough investigation by the Limpopo Serious Corruption Investigation Team."

At the same time, a former legal manager at the Elias Motsoaledi Municipality in Limpopo is due to appear in the Groblersdal Magistrates Court on Friday.

The appearance is also related to charges of fraud and corruption linked to alleged violations of the MFMA.
