DA, ANC join forces to oppose no-confidence motion against KZN's Ntuli

Some parties in the KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) coalition government are opposed to a motion of no confidence in Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli.

The MK Party announced its intention to the house to have Ntuli removed through a motion.

It claims the provincial government under his leadership was misusing State funds, something the premier has denied.

Several other parties in the coalition arrangement, however, insist Ntuli must stay.

MK Party member of the KZN Legislature, Bonginkosi Mngadi told the house his reasons for a motion of no confidence against Ntuli.

“For poor governance, financial mismanagement, misleading this house on his New York trip and failure to address unemployment and poverty.”

Ntuli said a proper report was furnished on the New York trip.

Meanwhile, the Democrataci Alliance (DA)’s Francois Rodgers, also MEC for the finance department in the executive council, said his party will oppose the motion.

“Absolutely, we’re part of the Government of Provincial Unity, we are not perfect, but we are better than the MK Party.”

Meanwhile, the African National Congress (ANC)’s Siboniso Duma had this to say.

“Ordinarily, we want to govern on our own but at this point in time, advanced judgment of the ANC is clinical on the approach as long as people’s lives have not been changed, we are still going to subject ourselves in ensuring that the needs of our people are prioritised.”

The National Freedom Party (NFP) at national level has also outlined that it wants Ntuli sacked.
