Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema has taken aim at the Constitutional Court (ConCourt), accusing it of dragging its feet in delivering judgment on the party’s challenge over President Cyril Ramaphosa's Phala Phala scandal.
The EFF approached the apex court last year after Parliament dismissed a report that found Ramaphosa may have breached his oath of office.
That report raised serious concerns about the President’s conduct in his handling of the 2020 theft of foreign currency at his Phala Phala farm in Limpopo.
Exactly a year later, the Constitutional Court has still not issued its ruling. The EFF, in response, marched to the court in Braamfontein, demanding the release of judgment.
Malema argued that the apex court was failing to lead by example by not delivering its judgments on time.
He stated: "How do you say those who fall under you must release judgment after three months but you can take the whole year? If you say the law courts must take three months, you must take two months. You must lead by example. Justice delayed is justice denied."
