Meyiwa murder trial: Police open case of conspiracy to commit murder

Police have confirmed that a case of conspiracy to commit murder has been registered in connection with the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial.

Police said they uncovered intelligence pointing to a group of people attending court with the intention of targeting key state role players.

Security around the high-profile trial has been tightened, with officers moved in to neutralise the threat and protect those at risk.

Police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe said a group of individuals who were inside the court on Tuesday have been taken for questioning and profiling.
