The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF)’s Nthabiseng Tshivhenga has resigned with immediate effect as a councillor and Speaker of the Ekurhuleni city council.

EWN understands that her resignation stems from a fallout with EFF Gauteng chairperson Nkululeko Dunga and councillor Julius Mdluli.

Despite all three belonging to the same party, they have had public spats during recent council sittings.

Tshivhenga has now opted to resign as both councillor and speaker of council due to ongoing disagreements and fallouts with fellow EFF members in the metro.

EWN has received confirmation that Tshivhenga will remain an EFF member.

The party has chosen to redeploy her to the Gauteng Provincial Legislature after tensions with some councillors in the Ekurhuleni council.
