City Power has reaffirmed its zero-tolerance stance against corruption, fraud, and unethical conduct in honour of International Anti-Corruption Day.
The utility hosted the event at its head offices in Reuven, Johannesburg, on Friday.
City Power’s chief commercial officer, Thamsanqa Mathiso, said corruption isn’t just about stealing cables, adding that it robs communities, weakens the organisation and threatens reliable power supply.
He added that the utility has achieved major governance improvements this year, resolving more than 150% of Auditor-General findings and tightening internal controls.
Mathiso said City Power is committed to continuing on this upward trajectory.
“There have been employees who have been dismissed as a result of the corruption that was reported. We have also identified some of the contractors that the COO identified, which were duplicating some of their work orders, and that work was reported and investigated.”
