Disaster managers keep watchful eye over flood-stricken areas, KZN COGTA

The KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) said disaster management teams have been deployed to flood-stricken areas in the north of the province, where a 35-year-old woman has been swept away.
It is understood that the woman was in the Sibongile township in Dundee.
Officials revealed that another disaster management team has been dispatched to the Umlazi Local Municipality, which also had reported severe thunderstorms. It is in this area where an elderly person was struck by lightning and taken to hospital.
KZN’s COGTA spokesperson, Senzelwe Mzila, explained: “Residents across the province are urged to remain vigilant as inclement weather conditions are expected to persist throughout the spring and summer seasons with above average rainfall forecasted.”
