National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola is confident of a breakthrough in the investigation into the murder of one of the witnesses at the Madlanga Commission.
Marius van der Merwe was shot dead in Brakpan last Friday night — but it’s not clear whether the hit was linked to his appearance at the commission probing corruption in the criminal justice system or his other work in the private security industry.
Police have now identified three people of interest and found a car in Alexandra that they believe was used in the attack.
Masemola and a team of police bosses visited the Van der Merwe family home last night.
