Midrand couple faces over 900 child trafficking charges

The Randburg Magistrates’ Court has informed a Midrand couple, accused of running a child sexual trafficking ring, that they face more than 900 charges.

Darren Wilken and his girlfriend, Tiona Moodley, are charged with manufacturing and distributing over ten million copies of child sexual abuse material.

Following their arrest in January, Moodley was released on bail, while Wilken remains behind bars.

Magistrate Anna Oosthuizen revealed a key condition: Moodley is prohibited from engaging with her mother, who has turned State witness.

Oosthuizen addressed Moodley directly: "Just for clarity, no contact with any of the State witnesses, and now it would also include your mother who is a State witness."

The Magistrate warned Moodley to strictly adhere to her bail conditions.

"Any direct or indirect contact with the witnesses as part of the condition that was imposed, if it is violated, the State will bring an application to have your bail revoked."

The couple is scheduled to return for trial in February next year at the High Court.
