Former South African National Hockey coach Sihle Ntuli is fighting to clear his name following what he calls a flawed and unfair disciplinary process.
Ntuli is recognised as one of the country's most successful hockey coaches. When he was appointed as the head coach of the men's national team in January, it was a dream come true, but that soon turned into a nightmare less than four months later when he was dismissed.
Ntuli was accused of misconduct, including allegations of alcohol and substance abuse, which he denies. He is now asking the SA Hockey Association (SAHA) to publish the findings of its investigation.
“I can’t get my head around why the association has chosen to be discreet about this whole matter. Whatever the outcome of my process is, negative or positive, I believe that the public deserves to know what’s going on. Where has the coach vanished to? I got appointed in January, they made a big public announcement about it, which was awesome. But I’ve been dismissed for about two months now, why is the association not being transparent?”
The SA Hockey Association has yet to respond to Eyewitness News’ request for comment.
