The Garden Route National Park announced that it would aim to improve visitor experiences through new infrastructure upgrades and strengthened safety measures this festive season.

The park, which spans Tsitsikamma, Knysna and Wilderness, said festive activation events, new recreational facilities and camping amenities had been introduced for visitor enjoyment.

SAN Parks spokesperson JP Louw said they were working closely with Garden Route Tourism to highlight the area’s natural diversity and promote visitor engagement. He added that the park had increased its seasonal staff to improve safety and security.

"Visitor safety remains a priority, with all activities and attractions open, increased staffing levels in place. The Garden Route National Park continues to work closely with regional tourism partners to support visitor engagement and promote the area's diverse natural and recreational offerings," said Louw

He added that the Wilderness section of the park was currently at about 60% occupancy, with an expected visitor increase over the coming weeks.

“To support increased visitor volumes, the park appointed 8 tourism monitors and 14 temporary workers, while members of some park's honour ranges were also assessed with camp duties across all the nodes.
