A group of alleged gangsters reportedly stormed the event, attacking partygoers and stealing some of their belongings.
In retaliation, some community members assaulted the attackers, killing one of the four suspects who were caught.
Community leader Thabo Ngayo has since spoken out, saying while it’s wrong for the public to take the law into their own hands, police must ensure their presence is felt in the area.
“As Diepkloof community, we will continue to have meetings to find ways and means of how to make sure these incidents do not happen. And we are going to include the law enforcement as well, which we are appealing to the station commander Diepkloof.”
