The people of KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) living along the coastline have been warned of heavy downpours expected in the region on Thursday.

This, as the South African Weather Service (SAWS) issued a Level 2 and Level 5 weather warning for Wednesday and Thursday.

KZN's cooperative spokesperson, Senzelwe Mzila, said, “The province is expecting severe thunderstorms that could lead to flooding of roads, settlements and low-lying bridges and areas, excessive lighting, strong damaging winds and large amounts of small and large hail in populated areas.”

He said where the Level 2 warning will apply

“From Port Shepstone all the way to Richards Bay, disaster management teams will continue to monitor weather conditions they will also be focusing on areas that are affected by weather incidents.”
