Rand Water has successfully completed the first phase of its maintenance and is set to start with the second phase this Friday.
The water supplier has been conducting its proactive infrastructure maintenance on various systems across the province since 13 December.
The utility’s spokesperson, Makenosi Maroo, said during the repair period, some residents will experience intermittent to no supply.
She added that this planned maintenance forms a part of their goal, to accommodate the growing demand.
“We are rebuilding the system. We are replacing what needs to be replaced so that in the new year, we are able to really supply water to different areas. And obviously, we know that there is a high demand. The population is growing, especially in Gauteng.”
