Drakenstein fire crews respond to blaze at Laborie Estate

Fire and rescue services from the Drakenstein Municipality have responded to a fire that broke out at Laborie Estate in Paarl on Saturday afternoon.

The fire has already destroyed two structures, namely the Cucina Di Giovanni restaurant and the first wing of the accommodation facilities.

Challenging wind conditions complicated firefighting efforts; however, all teams have been fully mobilised and are working tirelessly to bring the fire under control.

Additional firefighting support, including that from Stellenbosch Municipality and Cape Winelands District Municipality, has been deployed to assist in containing the fire.

Helicopters have also been deployed to support ground crews through aerial water drops.
