One of the country’s biggest used vehicle retailers, Webuycars, has been forced to revise its terms and conditions after they were found to be in breach of the Consumer Protection Act.

The National Consumer Commission (NCC) announced on Tuesday it has entered into a settlement agreement with Webuycars.

The agreement will see the company pay a fine of R2.5 million and refund several of its customers an amount totalling R3.4 million.

NCC spokesperson Phetho Ntaba said that the commission has been receiving complaints from customers over Webuycars sales agreements for the past three years.

“Consumers were alleging that Webuycars refused to provide redress following the terms and conditions of sale they would have signed between them and the supplier.”
