Activists have vowed to continue monitoring the water supply situation in Tulbagh.
The Witzenberg Justice Coalition said after residents reported brown tap water with a foul odour, the municipality ran tests and found that the water is suitable for consumption.
The Coalition’s Naomi Betana said water tankers have since been deployed to Tulbagh since the 24th of December after the MEC for local government Anton Bredell visited the area.
She added that this is the second time the community encountered this issue.
“It has a smell and it was brown. So even though tests showed there's nothing wrong with the water, the issue is why must community members drink brown water? said Betana.
Betana added that the water problem may be attributed to a maintenance issue.
