Safety and security measures have been beefed up at the V&A Waterfront ahead of the New Year’s Eve celebrations.
The waterfront will have several family-friendly outdoor entertainment zones and a variety of carnival-themed performances for the celebrations.
V&A Waterfront spokesperson Donald Kau says safety and accessibility measures are in place to ensure a smooth event.
"It is a big security operation between ourselves, SAPS, emergency services, and our operations team, and it's really just to make sure that the whole thing goes without a hitch." Kau said.
He has urged motorists to arrive early in order to find the right parking.
"If you are driving, come through. Use the extreme edges of the parking area. So if you're coming through from CTICC Park at Battery Park or the Silo District. It's much easier to get out of there. There will be traffic monitoring and accessibility control." He added.
Kau says the fireworks display after midnight has been prepared to cause minimal damage to animals and the environment.
