The National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA) is calling on all progressive people of the world to condemn America's assault on Venezuela.
US President Donald Trump on Saturday confirmed American forces had captured Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, following a large-scale military strike.
NUMSA spokesperson Phakamile Hlubi-Majola says the attack is a violation of international law and aimed at strangling the Bolivarian Revolution.
"The National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA) has unreservedly condemns the trump administration's undemocratic, dictatorial, and unilateral attack on the democratic Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, and the criminal capture and arrest of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores."
Hlubi-Majola says sections of the Venezuelan opposition have endorsed the u.s seizure of Venezuelan oil tankers and threat of military blockades.
"This is capture, plain and simple. History teaches us that those who invite foreign powers to intervene against their own people become tools of neo-colonial subjugation."
Hlubi-Majola says the illegal seizure of the Venezuelan oil tankers constitutes international crimes.
