The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) says it has successfully processed all 2026 funding applications ahead of the start of the academic year.

Briefing the media on Tuesday NSFAS announced it had received a record total of 893 847 applications for the upcoming higher education academic year.

The scheme says managed to meet its self-imposed 31 December deadline to process all applications.

With the start of the academic year fast approaching, acting NSFAS Board Chairperson Mugwena Malueke urged all institutions to submit the 2025 academic results of all students.

The results must be submitted along with the institutions 2026 admission lists, to allow the scheme to validate and prioritise funding for eligible students.
