National Freedom Party (NFP) KwaZulu-Natal provincial chairperson Mbali Shinga is facing disciplinary action for not supporting the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party’s motion to remove Thamsanqa Ntuli as premier.
The party, which is the kingmaker in the KwaZulu-Natal Government of Provincial Unity coalition, said Shinga disobeyed instructions.
This followed her failure to carry out the party’s mandate during the motion in December.
Eyewitness News understands that Shinga appeared before a disciplinary committee on Wednesday, and returned to the hot seat again on Thursday.
In a letter seen by Eyewitness News, she was charged by the party for not supporting the motion of no confidence against Ntuli.
She was also charged with failing to support a vote conducted through a secret ballot.
This was despite the party having instructed her to vote by secret ballot in favour of the motion.
On Wednesday, the party ordered Shinga to resign by the end business on Thursday.
