WC nears budget limit with R15m spent on aerial firefighting

The Western Cape government said it has already spent R15 million on aerial operations alone to help extinguish wildfires this season across the Cape.
The provincial government said this is largely because the province has seen double the number of incidents this fire season compared to last year.
"Currently, we are dealing with two major fires still in the Southern Cape as well as in the Overstrand and we will continue to provide operational support with aircraft to manage those incidents," said Western Cape Chief Director for Disaster Management and Fire & Rescue Services, Colin Deiner.
