Pearly Beach fire in Gansbaai contained thanks to cooler weather conditions & light rainfall

Cooler weather conditions and light rainfall have helped contain the Pearly Beach fire in Gansbaai overnight.
Mop-up operations were underway, with crews continuing to monitor the perimeter as pockets of the fire still burned.
A 9km back-burn was initiated just before 6am to help contain the Stanford fire in Gansbaai.

Municipal manager Dean O’Neil said fire danger levels in Stanford remained high, despite cooler conditions forecast for Monday.
“By six o’clock, we were about halfway through the back-burn. This is to ensure the fire is contained within a defined block and allowed to burn itself out. Fire danger remains very high, although temperatures are cooler today and the wind has eased significantly.
