President Cyril Ramaphosa will meet with titans of industry and business leaders in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Monday in another investment drive. 

Ramaphosa and his delegation will met with business leaders on the sidelines of an official visit to the UAE, which kicked off on Monday.

This was part of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, which brought together heads of state and government, private sector leaders and civil society to promote collaboration across the board. 

The UAE is a major investor in the South African economy across various sectors such as transport, logistics and renewable energy.

In 2024, bilateral trade between both countries surpassed $5 billion.

South Africa’s exports to the UAE increased by 5% compared to 2023, while imports from the UAE declined 25% over the same period. 

Spokesperson for the presidency Vincent Magwenya said: “South Africa maintains cordial bilateral relations with the UAE, characterised by regular high-level visits as well as robust economic cooperation, for the mutual benefit of both countries.” 

Ramaphosa is joined by Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Ronald Lamola, Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni, Trade and Industry Minister Parks Tau, and the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development Mmamoloko Kubayi.
