Joburg Mayor Dada Morero is in the firing line once again, after the United Democratic Alliance (UDM) and Al-jama-ah Party submitted a motion of no confidence against him.
This marks the second time these parties have sought to remove Morero from the city’s top office.
Their first motion was introduced last month, but was withdrawn just before it was scheduled for a vote in the city council.
The parties accuse Morero of neglecting his duties and failing to consult coalition partners on key decisions.
The African National Congress (ANC)'s Morero has served as the mayor of Johannesburg for 16 months, and has already faced two motions of no confidence.
The third motion is likely to be heard at the next council meeting.
The first, which was brought by the Democrartic Alliance (DA), was unsuccessful, while the second, sponsored by Al-jama-ah, was withdrawn.
A confident morero, however, remains confident, saying he does not expect the latest motion to succeed.
"They’ve brought the motion once again. The motion will then be tabled. I hope this time around that it will not be withdrawn and it will be debated."
The city's programming committee has yet to confirm whether it has approved the motion.
