Vanderbijlpark scholar transport crash: Two more learners succumb to injuries

Two more learners have succumbed to their injuries following a scholar transport crash in Vanderbijlpark this week, pushing the death toll to 14.
Police said that the two learners died in hospital in the early hours of Thursday morning.
This means the man who was behind the wheel when the scholar transport collided with a truck now faces additional counts of culpable homicide, as well as charges of reckless and negligent driving.

The 22-year-old was arrested after being discharged from hospital and is expected to make his first court appearance at the Vanderbijlpark Magistrates Court on Thursday.
Police spokesperson Mavela Masondo said investigations into the crash are continuing.
“The 22-year-old scholar transport driver is now facing 14 counts of culpable homicide, as well as reckless and negligent driving.”
