Affected residents say they are growing increasingly frustrated by what they describe as a lack of communication and a slow response from authorities.
Residents claim there has been little clarity on when essential building materials—including wood, zinc sheets, and basic tools—will be delivered to help them rebuild their homes.
Eyewitness News visited the area earlier, where residents expressed frustration and called on authorities to urgently intervene before conditions worsen. Currently, the situation remains dire:
Many families are still living in temporary shelters.
Victims remain exposed to harsh weather conditions.
Displaced residents are relying on the generosity of neighbours and community organisations for food and clothing.
One of the fire victims, Ayanda Mngunundi, told EWN that the past two weeks have been incredibly tough for his family.
"We lost everything, we don't have electricity either, it's very hard. We would really appreciate it if the government can help us with building material so we can go back to our normal lives."
The fire victims say it feels as though their plight is not being taken seriously.
They have warned that continued delays are deepening their suffering and leaving them with little hope of recovery.
