Greenpeace’s iconic Rainbow Warrior vessel will be opened to the public for free tours on 24 and 25 January at the V&A Waterfront.

The Rainbow Warrior vessel was launched in 2011 to continue the legacy of its original ship that was sunk by French secret agents in 1985.

Captain Maria Martinez explained that the ship’s purpose is to document environmental abuses, such as oil spills and overfishing.

They bring attention to key issues such as the effects of seismic testing, the continued prioritisation of fossil fuels, and the impact of plastic pollution.

“It was built for environmental action, being a floating witness. What happens overseas and in international waters is not always obvious and easy to see, so we document it,” she said.
