The City of Cape Town Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson, Jermaine Carelse, says teams have managed to divide the area into manageable divisions.

Firefighting crews are currently battling a fire near Hughenden Street on the mountain slopes in Hout Bay.

The City of Cape Town Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson, Jermaine Carelse, says teams have managed to divide the area into manageable divisions.


In addition to the City's Fire and Rescue Service, crews from Table Mountain National Park (TMNP) and NCC are also on-site. The City’s Fire and Rescue Service received the call at 13:50 reporting vegetation alight.

While the fire covers a relatively large area, no property has been damaged at this stage.

"The City’s Fire & Rescue Service received a call at 13:50 of vegetation alight near Hughenden Street, Hout Bay. Crews from TMNP and NCC are also on site. This is a relatively large area firefighters are dealing with and at this stage the fire is not contained and no property have been damaged," says Carelse.
