Rachel Kolisi is taking viewers behind the scenes through the defining moments in her life in the upcoming documentary Falling Forward.
Speaking to 702’s Bongani Bingwa, she explained that it delves into the quieter chapters of her life.
She emphasised the importance of controlling the narrative and sharing her story on her own terms, especially being in the public eye.
“I just think that the last few years, particularly in the last year, there is a lot about me and my story that has been thrown around, incorrectly so.
“I am excited to take people on a journey about who I am, who I was before I got married, and just sharing a little bit about my life and story,” she says.
She also highlighted the need for a bigger conversation around the injustices and misconceptions faced by women and how this documentary is a step towards creating a movement.
“I have had hundreds of women reaching out in situations that they are trying to navigate and work through, and are just not being able to tell their narrative.
“What I am trying to create through Falling Forward is a bigger conversation and a movement for many women," she added.
Intimate screenings will take place from 4 March to 8 April in Johannesburg, Gqeberha, Durban, and Cape Town. Tickets are available on Webtickets.
