The DA has paid a tracing agent to locate controversial businessman Edwin Sodi, says the party's Tshwane Mayoral Candidate, Cilliers Brink.
They want to find him so they can eliminate any further excuses from the City of Tshwane. The city was asked to serve a notice on Sodi and his associates who won a R292-million tender to upgrade the Rooiwal Wastewater Treatment Plant. The project, meant to serve Hammanskraal - was not completed but money was paid out.
Brink says Sodi must respond to the notice, saying why he should not be blacklisted from doing business with the state.
"This process was initiated when I was the mayor in 2024 and we understand that you have to follow a process. You have to give Sodi and his associates an opportunity to say why they did not mess up the Rooiwal Wastewater Treatment Plant and only then can you put it before National Treasury.
"But the excuses and the delays have been - quite frankly - unreasonable and ridiculous.
"These are directors of companies that are listed. They've got registered addresses. Edward Sodi has appeared before the Zondo Commission. In-fact he's a corruption accused. So it's really not that difficult to find his address and deliver the notice," says Brink.
