ActionSA said it will abstain from the vote of no confidence against Johannesburg mayor Dada Morero.
Morero is facing another AlJama-Ah-sponsored motion of no-confidence in the city council on Thursday.
The party believes Morero is failing to improve service delivery.
The African National Congress (ANC) is still in last-minute talks with Al Jama-ah and other political parties in the multi-party coalition.
It’s understood that the ANC’s national and provincial leadership met overnight to discuss calls from coalition partners for Morero to step down as the mayor of Johannesburg.
That meeting ended without a decision, with leaders now in another meeting where Morero’s future is expected to be decided.
However, ActionSA caucus leader Marcel Coutriers said the party will not entertain the motion.
"We are adamant that we are not going to vote. We are going to abstain. The reason for that is that we were engaged at the last minute, and we don’t stand for that."
He said the ANC should fix its internal problems outside of the council chambers.
Dada Morero (ANC), the Mayor of Johannesburg, is facing another motion of no confidence today.

This is the third attempt to remove the mayor. The first DA vote of no confidence failed in June 2025. Last month, an Al-Jama-ah motion was withdrawn just before voting. @JusstAlpha pic.twitter.com/SSm2tiwEhF
