Police in KwaZulu-Natal say the four suspects killed in a shootout with officers in Adams Mission, south of Durban, were wanted for a series of crimes.
Officers confirmed the group had been under their radar for some time and had been positively linked to house robberies, hijackings, and kidnappings.
Police cordoned off the crime scene in a busy area of Adams Mission where the group was shot. Officers stated the suspects lived in neighbouring communities and troubled residents in KwaMakhutha and Adams by committing house robberies and other violent crimes.

Police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda provided details on the investigation leading up to the confrontation.
"There’s even a video where they hijacked a vehicle which had a camera so we could identify them clearly, so we were looking for them and just before we found them, they were shooting in the air in one of the houses here," Netshiunda said.
Police say when the group saw cars with blue lights and sirens, they opened fire and were killed by officers. Two guns were found on the scene.
