Rand Water has confirmed that emergency repair work at its Zuikerbosch Water Treatment Plant is now complete, following a motor explosion that disrupted supply across several systems.
The incident caused a significant drop in pressure and localised outages throughout parts of Johannesburg. According to the utility, reservoir levels within the Palmiet, Eikenhof, and Mapleton systems are currently in a recovery phase.
Rand Water spokesperson Makenosi Maroo noted that while the infrastructure is back online, the return to full service will be incremental.
"Customers who experienced low water pressure or temporary outages should see gradual improvement as the system stabilises," said Maroo.
Residents in affected areas are encouraged to continue managing their water usage conservatively while the network reaches full capacity.
