Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis said the City of Cape Town has allocated more than R100 million to build a wall on the N2.
Hill-Lewis made the announcement during his council speech on Thursday, saying the city's urban mobility budget for the barrier will be increased by R7 million in 2026.
The mayor said a further R108 million will be allocated in 2027 to cover the bulk of the construction.
"This project will not only repair safety barriers and install new ones, it will also bring various other safety improvements for adjacent communities, including pedestrian crossings, improved lighting, safety barriers for recreational spaces, safer grazing practices for livestock and reduced spaces for illegal dumping."
