It was the state’s case that Jacobs was an alleged gangster and was involved in the shooting.

Rameez Jacobs appeared in the Athlone Magistrates Court facing an attempted murder charge.

The prosecution believed that he was one of the gunmen involved in the attack outside the court on 3 December.

His legal representative, Advocate Adrian Samuels, applied for the analysis of video footage of the shooting captured by CCTV cameras.

Samuels said he was convinced that the results of facial recognition would absolve his client.

The case was postponed to 20 February for a bail application and photo recognition.
