Just weeks prior to the arrest of controversial blogger Musa Khawula, he had planned to publish information relating to Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala's private and business affairs.

However, Gauteng head of organised crime Richard Shibiri approached Khawula and pleaded with the blogger not to post the story on Matlala.

WhatsApp messages between Shibiri and Khawula were presented before the Madlanga Commission.

In one of the messages, Shibiri requests Khawula not to publish the story on Matlala, describing him as “a good guy” who “never bothers anyone” and “lives a private life”.

Witness F claims that suspended Deputy National Police Commissioner, Shadrack Sibiya, instructed him to send Khawula’s warrant of arrest to Matlala.

"According to General Sibiya, Mr Matala’s security company always has vision of where Musa usually goes on weekends. I did not see any problem with it because usually SAPS do work with private security."
