Lawyers for convicted killer and rapist Thabo Bester have argued that the bid for his removal from the Ebongweni prison is inherently urgent because of his ongoing trial in the High Court.

Bester has approached the Pretoria High Court to challenge his move from the Kgosi Mampuru prison.

Bester was moved to the country’s only super-maximum security prison last month.

Correctional Services is opposing Bester’s application.

However, his lawyer, Advocate Moafrika wa Maila, has told the court that it is impossible to consult with him while he is at Ebongweni.
