Forensic investigator and anti-corruption activist Paul O’Sullivan is appearing before Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee in person on Tuesday.

He is set to reveal evidence of criminality within the SAPS and the involvement of high-ranking officials.

O’Sullivan previously challenged the claims made by KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi on 6 July last year.

Speaking to 702’s Clement Manayathela before his appearance, O’Sullivan expressed confidence in the truth coming to light, despite potential backlash from those implicated.

“It’s time the country heard the truth. They have sat here, they have allowed all of these criminals to parade in front of them and give them a pack of lies, and now they are going to get the truth whether they like it or not.”

He added that he was comfortable with identifying ‘rogue cops’ during his testimony.

“The criminal justice system in South Africa is a big let-down for all the people in South Africa. It is not because of Paul O’Sullivan; it is because of all the rogue cops, and they are the ones who need to be cleaned out. I am going to identify some of them during my testimony.

“I am not afraid; any person who wants to ask me a question, provided they don’t take up too much of my time, can ask a question,” he said.

O’Sullivan said his security concerns have been addressed, prompting him to appear before the committee.

He added that it was important to return to South Africa as the ad committee was ending soon.

“I believed it was important. I didn’t have to fly back. I flew back to provide my evidence, and then I am flying up to London.”
