Mashatile assures Khayelitsha youth he’ll take concerns to president’s office

Deputy President Paul Mashatile has assured young people in Khayelitsha that their concerns will be taken to the highest office in the country.
Mashatile was speaking during a Youth Dialogue held in the area on Tuesday, where young residents raised serious challenges affecting their community.
These include high unemployment, extortion, gun violence and rising substance abuse.

The deputy president told the gathering that the government has heard their frustrations and understands the urgency of the issues raised.
Mashatile promised to bring their grievances to the president’s attention for possible inclusion in the State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Thursday.
"Those of us who are here - myself, minister, deputy minister and all other officials of government - will ensure that what we have heard from young people will find space in the implementation of government plans."
He encouraged young people to continue engaging the government and to be part of solutions aimed at improving their communities.
