Fire crews are battling two separate veld fires in the Western Cape.

Firefighters and vehicles from Ceres, Worcester, Paarl, and Robertson have been deployed to both incidents, which started at around the same time.

The first fire is burning in mixed veld above farms near Tulbagh, while the second is in Kluitjieskraal, outside Wolseley.

Cape Winelands municipality spokesperson Jo-Anne Otto says teams are facing high flames in hot, windy conditions.

"At this stage, no property is under immediate threat," Otto said. "However, strong wind and the high fuel load from surrounding vegetation remain a concern. Teams will definitely remain on the fire lines throughout the night."
